Songs and music for Irish wakes and funerals
I regularly perform at Irish funerals and wakes across the country
Distance is no object and I sing at Irish funerals and wakes regularly across the country.
During the last 4 months I’ve performed in London, Birmingham, Coventry, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol.
Audio and video samplers
Here’s a video of some of the most requested songs that I perform solo, with an acoustic guitar, at funeral services and gravesides.
Here’s a track from one of my recent albums, ‘I Saw the Light’.
I was first asked to sing ‘Jealous of the Angels’ at a funeral about 3 years ago and fell in love with it immediately.
My version of the song (featuring 8 other tracks written by me) is now available on the album through Itunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, etc.
It’s a popular option with mourners to have that ‘special Irish song’ (or two) associated with the deceased, performed at the service.
As well as performing solo I can also provide a duo option with a Flute player, Fiddler, Uilleann piper, Banjo player and or accordionist at Wakes after the service.
You can see and hear the main uilleann piper and fiddler that I work with at funerals and wakes on the videos below.
Here are some of the most popular songs requested for Irish wakes & funerals.
A Mothers Loves a Blessing
Fields of Athenry
How Great Thou Art
I Watch the Sunrise
Jealous of the Angels
Morning Has Broken
Old Rugged Cross
One Day at a Time
The Old Man
The Parting Glass
This World is Not My Home
Toora Loora Loora (Irish Lullaby)
Wind Beneath My Wings

“I would like to thank Seán Brady and his Uilleann piper for their brilliant performances at my Mother’s recent funeral and wake. They were both very professional and very respectful in every way and excellent musicians. They helped so much to make the day a memorable one. I cannot thank them enough and would not hesitate to recommend them. Look them up on You Tube, you will not be disappointed. Thank you both so much”.
“Sean played at my Mums funeral. The music was beautiful and made a hard day feel very special. Thank you.”
“Dear Sean, I would like to thank you and your fellow musicians for the great send off that you gave to my father, the comments that I have received have all been how great the music was and how much my father would have approved and to see my mother happy at the end of a sad day for us all is a testament to you and your band. I will always remember that day and if I am ever asked do I know of a good Irish band I will have no hesitation to mention you. Once again on behalf of my family I thank you and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.
“Hello Sean and happy Easter to you. Just a short note to say a huge thank you for performing at our mum’s funeral. You were so professional from the first point of contact and made life very easy for us when that really mattered. Your performance was exactly what we wanted and set the tone beautifully for the service. All our relatives and friends, many of whom had flown in from Ireland, commented on the beautiful music. We would certainly not hesitate to recommend you. Many thanks again and all the best Sean”.
“Hi Sean, Would like to say a big thank you to you and your band for making Mum’s wake a great celebration, she would be thrilled with the music and I am sure she was tapping away to the play list. Once again a big thank you from all the family for making the day a true celebration. Kind Regards,”
“Hi Sean. Thank you so much for the lovely songs you added to such a special day. I couldn’t have been happier with what you did for me. Dad would have been in his element if he was there. I loved your How Great Thou Art in particular. Can’t tell you how grateful I am. Take care and all the best”,
“Hi Seán – Just a quick message to thank you and your fellow musician for your wonderful duo performance at Waverley Arms. It was much appreciated and enjoyed. Once again thank you for your professionalism”.
“Sorry for the late reply Sean. You and your band made my late mothers funeral the most wonderful occasion I wanted it to be. Without you it would have been nice, but you added a very special dynamic. I will be booking you again Sean but for a happier occasion. Take care and thanks”.
“Sean, sorry for the delay in sending this but just wanted to thank you and the lads for putting on such an amazing set. The songs and music by the graveside will never be forgotten. You do what you do well so thank you so much. No hesitations in recommending to friends and family Thank you again”.
“Hi Sean, thanks for the performance on Wednesday at moms funeral. You did a great set and everyone loved it. The only one problem was we didn’t want you to stop! We carried on for a good while after and had as good time as anyone can at a funeral. Also enjoyed the few conversations we had about our history, parents, etc. Thanks again”-
“Sean – all my family and I would like you to know and for you to pass on to the band that they were fantastic at my mother’s wake yesterday – they made it the perfect send off for her for her family and friends all of whom have been steeped in the traditional music and the ballads and songs of Ireland – can’t praise them enough – they made the day – thanks, and thanks again”
“Been away for a while, just like to say thanks to you and the boys, it was fitting for dear old Dads send off. Thanks a million, Kind regards”,
“Sean, I just wanted to say thank you so much for your singing yesterday. You were absolutely perfect and sang and played so beautifully” My dad would have loved it even more than we did. Thank you for that great memory”.
I just wanted to touch base and say thank you so much for all your efforts.
My mum would have been so happy at the way you got everyone together with your music.
All those there expressed how great a day you made it, making a sad occasion into a joyous one, which is what we wanted.
I have also passed on your details to various members of my friends and family so I guess it won’t be to long until I hear you guys again.
So thank you again Sean from every one in the O’****** party.
May we first say how pleased we were with you’re performance at my Dads funeral.
We were especially pleased with the song Mother Ireland “Come Home Paddy” that you learned for the day, it was one of my Dad’s favourite songs. You helped to make a sad day very special.
All who attended commented on how good you were, we will track you down and come and see you in the future”.
All the best,
Ken & Mairead.
